Rabbi Piny Hackenbroch grew up in London, attended Hasmonean High School and read Law at London Guildhall University.
He studied for some eight years in Israel in several Yeshivot including Gush Etzion, Medrash Shmuel and Mir obtaining semicha as well graduating in practical Rabbinics through the Ner Le’elef Institute and Kollel Halichot Yerushalayim.
Rabbi Hackenbroch is currently the Senior Rabbi in Woodside Park Synagogue a modern orthodox thriving community of some 1400 members. He has trained in Family Therapy holding a graduate and post graduate certificate in Systemic Family Therapy through the Institute of Family Therapy ( IFT) as well as being a fully accredited mediator through the ADR group as well as ADR-ODR International. Prior to this Rabbi Hackenbroch was Rabbi of Newton Mearns Synagogue in Glasgow for five years, Head of Kashrut for West of Scotland and a weekly columnist for the Jewish Telegraph.
He is a frequent contributor in the media and lectures widely on ethics and Jewish philosophy both in the country and abroad. Rabbi Hackenbroch will be spending his forthcoming sabbatical as scholar in residence in communities in South Africa, United States and Canada from March – June 2017.
Outside of his Shul work Rabbi Hackenbroch enjoys practising as both a commercial and family mediator, sitting on several mediation panels and working with several City Law firms and charities to advise and resolve their disputes.
He is married to Gila, a family psychotherapist and they have four sons and two daughters.
